US military trains Nigerian forces in drone technology, combat care

The United States and Nigerian militaries have strengthened their bilateral defence partnership through a new joint training programme in Bauchi State. Led by the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), the initiative is designed to improve Nigerian troops’ readiness and enhance cooperation between personnel from both countries through practical military training.
The training covers several areas, including unmanned aircraft systems, combat lifesaver and tactical combat casualty care, explosive ordnance disposal, small-unit tactics, weapons familiarisation, camouflage techniques, and water treatment and testing. By combining advanced technology with essential field skills, the programme aims to strengthen the operational capabilities of Nigerian forces while deepening cooperation between the two militaries.
Beyond the formal training, U.S. and Nigerian personnel also participate in recreational activities such as basketball and volleyball when operational duties and weather conditions permit. These activities provide additional opportunities for troops from both countries to interact and build stronger relationships.
