OVER 100 SUSPECTS ARRAIGNED OVER VI, LEKKI, AJAH DISTURBANCES

The Lagos State Government has arraigned more than 100 suspects before the Lagos State Special Offences Mobile Court in Bolade, Oshodi, over alleged breach of public peace and unlawful conversion of government property. The suspects were arrested between 2am and 4am on Friday, September 4, 2026, across the Victoria Island-Lekki-Ajah axis.
During the arraignment, some defendants pleaded guilty while others pleaded not guilty. Chief Magistrate F.J. Adefioye sentenced those who pleaded guilty to Counts I and II to one and two months of community service or imprisonment, respectively, with the sentences to run consecutively. Those who pleaded not guilty were remanded and granted bail with two sureties each.
The Coordinator of the Mobile Court, Olufemi Adekunle, said the government remained committed to maintaining law and order while protecting residents and legitimate businesses. He added that similar Mobile Court sittings would continue across the state to ensure prompt prosecution and keep public spaces safe.
