The Federal Government plans to establish six state-of-the-art medical simulation centres across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to strengthen clinical training and address gaps in the healthcare workforce. Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, announced the initiative.
The centres will use high-fidelity mannequins and virtual reality tools to provide hands-on, risk-free training for doctors, nurses and midwives. Training will focus on areas including maternal and child health, surgery and trauma care.
The project, under the Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative and supported by international partners, aims to standardize practical exams and continuing education, reduce medical errors and improve patient outcomes. The first phase is expected to begin in the coming months.
