EFCC SUMMONS EX-GOV SYLVA OVER ALLEGED $14.86M FRAUD

The former Minister and Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, who has been declared wanted over an alleged $14.86m fraud, was urged by the EFCC to make himself available for questioning.
Sylva resigned from the APC, forwarding his resignation letter to the EFCC while accusing the commission of partisanship. He criticized the ruling party and the Tinubu administration for abandoning their founding ideals.
He fled the country and remains at large following an alleged plot against the administration, facing federal charges including treason, terrorism, and money laundering, alongside a November 2025 EFCC wanted notice over $14.8 million in alleged fraud. Though Sylva denies all claims and has not been convicted, courts issued a May 2026 interim forfeiture order on nine of his properties.
